Throughout history, art has been a powerful weapon against oppression. From bold murals to defiant dance, from protest music to radical theatre, creativity has sparked revolutions and challenged the status quo. This week, we’ll explore how artists have fought injustice through visual art, performance, sculpture, and sound. Discover the rebellious spirit of Diego Rivera, Ai Weiwei, Nina Simone, and more. Whether through graffiti, ballet, or punk rock, art has always been a force for change—come see how! Week 2: Art as Protest Virtual Institute meets: online Monday-Thursday 2:45 - 3:45 PM Eastern from July 7 - July 11 Cost: $95 This online class is part of our Virtual Institute series, a set of 6 weeks of learning designed to allow learners of ALL communicative abilities a way to learn and engage with spellers from around the world. We discount our rate to just $19 per class to make our educational opportunities more accessible. Each class will feature instruction and opportunities to respond. Teachers will provide words to spell, reasoning questions with 2 choices, reasoning questions with predictable responses, and open-ended questions. Learners are encouraged to participate as much as they like and to participate in ways that work best for them. Your teacher will email the zoom link with additional class information the week before class starts. A recording will be provided to all registered participants in case your preference is asynchronous participation.
