How have ideas about race shaped history? In this five-day novel study of Stamped by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi, we’ll explore how beliefs and narratives about race have developed over time and influenced key historical events. Through reading, discussion, and reflection, students will examine different perspectives on historical movements and social change. This course encourages critical thinking about the past to build a deeper understanding of the present. Students do not need to have read the book in order to participate. Text excerpts will be provided. Week 4: History Unfiltered - Virtual Institute meets: online Monday-Friday 2:45 - 3:45 PM Eastern from July 21 - July 25 Cost: $95 This online class is part of our Virtual Institute series, a set of 6 weeks of learning designed to allow learners of ALL communicative abilities a way to learn and engage with spellers from around the world. We discount our rate to just $19 per class to make our educational opportunities more accessible. Each class will feature instruction and opportunities to respond. Teachers will provide words to spell, reasoning questions with 2 choices, reasoning questions with predictable responses, and open-ended questions. Learners are encouraged to participate as much as they like and to participate in ways that work best for them. Your teacher will email the zoom link with additional class information the week before class starts. A recording will be provided to all registered participants in case your preference is asynchronous participation.
